State Representative Micah Gravley Recognizes Taylor Phillips at the Capitol

ATLANTA – State Representative Micah Gravley (R-Douglasville) recently led the Georgia House of Representatives in recognizing former baseball player Taylor “T-Bone” Phillips during a morning order in the House chamber on Friday, March 24, 2017. Rep. Gravley sponsored House Resolution 651 to honor Phillips’ achievements.
“I was proud to recognize Mr. Taylor Phillips for his accomplishments in baseball,” said Rep. Gravley. “Taylor is not only a legendary ballplayer, but he is also a legendary citizen. I first met Taylor at the New Georgia Baptist Church men’s breakfast, and I considered it an honor to recognize him before the Georgia House of Representatives.”
Phillips began his baseball career at Douglas County High School, and then went on to play in Waycross, Georgia for the Farm Club of the Milwaukee Braves and Taylor had the honor of playing in the World Series with the Milwaukee Braves in 1957 and threw the last pitch at the Ponce De Leon Park while playing for the Atlanta Crackers in 1964. He went on to play for many notable major league teams, including the Chicago Cubs, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago White Sox. Following his retirement, Phillips continued to participate in baseball as a Little League, softball and American Legion baseball coach.
