City of Dallas Brings Best of Summer 2017 "So Far"
June 17th, 2017, the City of Dallas, kicked off their Block Party concert featuring Mother's Finest with local band Sky-Jacker 45 in Downtown Historic Dallas. A mobile stage was erected across Main Street next to the historic courthouse. As the stage was prepared for the bands, food trucks and local groups lined up along Main Street. Just a little bit before 6 PM the Paulding County community started to show up. And did they ever! This past weekend's Block Party was a terrific success on many levels. Record numbers of people showed up to enjoy the free concert hosted by the City of Dallas.
The City of Dallas began participating in Food Truck Fridays over two years ago. Just last year they hosted their first City Fest in 2016 with concerts and a barbecue competition. This event was a tremendous success, and was followed up by the 2017 City Fest, which enjoyed equal success. The historic downtown square is providing the community a fun venue for entertainment events. With the continued support of Mayor Boyd Austin and the City Council, the for future events in Downtown Dallas look bright.Event coordinators Robby Bruce (Dallas Parks and Recreation), Amber Whisner and Tina Clark of the City of Dallas, have done a remarkable job in planning and executing all of the aforementioned events. Through planning and coordination with the city of Dallas Police Department, the record turnout for the June Block Party came off without a hitch. Dallas police officers were on hand providing traffic control and safety. Police officers also were extremely impressed at how smoothly the event went. With record crowd numbers, the organization and planning paid off, in that there were no incidents of any sort. The large crowd completely enjoyed the show without any disruptions.
The event coordinators would like to thank everyone who showed up and participated. They also would like to remind you that more events are coming soon, including June 30th's Food Truck Friday. Also, an extremely grateful "Thank You" to the Dallas Police Department for their support in this, their biggest event, for downtown so far.
