Carroll EMC’s professional Journeyman Teams and Apprentices competed with other EMCs and municipal electric systems across Georgia. Amid perfect weather and clear blue skies, Carroll EMC Apprentice Lineman Dylan England placed first in the jumper installation event and placed 10th out of 50 Apprentices and 16th out of 67 overall. Other CEMC contestants included Construction Manager Tommy Cook, who competed with Snapping Shoals EMC in the Journeyman Senior Division and placed second, as well as Apprentice Lineman Cameron Porter who placed 21st out of 50 Apprentices and 29th overall out of 67.
“EMC Journeymen, Linemen and Apprentices are among the best in their field in Georgia and across the nation,” said Tim Martin, CEO of Carroll EMC. “This is a chance to demonstrate for the public and their peers the vast experience and knowledge they’ve accumulated over the years.” Now in its 22nd year, the Lineman’s Rodeo is a popular venue for utility companies and the public to witness the many skills necessary to keep electricity running to our homes and businesses. The rodeo is a family-friendly event and gives linemen an opportunity to showcase these skills in a safe and efficient manner.
This year, 24 EMC journeyman teams competed in four events: hurt-man rescue, switch changeout (12kV) and two mystery events. A total of 46 EMC Apprentices were tested in five events: written test, hurt-man rescue, jumper installation and two mystery events.
