zippy 400Jan 12th 2016... After what seemed like an endless campaign, GFB President Zippy Duvall was elected AFBF President to serve a two year term in Washington, DC. The Greensboro farmer resigned his GFB Presidency Tuesday after his election to the presidency of the American Farm Bureau Federation at its annual meeting held this year in Orlando, FL.
Duvall succeeds Bob Stallman who did not seek re-election after 16 years at the head of the nation's largest general farm organization. Georgia Farm Bureau 1st Vice President Gerald Long of Bainbridge will succeed Duvall. "I am so humbled and thankful for your support and belief in my leadership for [American Farm Bureau Federation] President,'' Duvall said after his election. "I will continue to represent all farmers and ranchers across the states."
A longtime member of the Greene County Farm Bureau, Duvall raises broiler hens and cattle and grows hay. He is the 12 president in the American Farm Bureau's 97-year history.
Long will serve as president of the Georgia Farm Bureau until December when the organization will elect its next president. Long is eligible to run for the office.
