safety 400Each year, April is designated 911 Education Month and the second week of April is set aside to honor the men and women serving as Public Safety Telecommunicators. This week-long event, initially set up in 1981 by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in California, is a time to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public as the “First-First Responders”.

Paulding County 911 is pleased to have this special time set aside to honor the Communications Officers who work behind the scenes to ensure the safety of our public safety responders and the citizens of Paulding County.

“Although they are not often recognized as being a responder, Communications Officers are, in fact, most often the first contact someone has with Public Safety during an emergency.” said David Mumford, the Director of Paulding County 911. “Paulding County is blessed to have such dedicated men and women serving alongside the other Public Safety partners in our county. ”

Members of the public are encouraged to honor their calltakers and dispatchers by sending thank you notes or emails to the communications center at .
