Paulding’s Board of Commissioners green-lighted an opportunity to establish a felony drug court program last week during their June session at the Watson Government complex in Dallas. Hiram City Council met on June 2 for their regular session, which followed a series of public hearings. The first was to consider a zoning application by Cobb Subs Inc. to rezone approximately .814 acres from R-2 (Suburban Residential District) to B-2 (Highway Business District). After months of talks, the largest metro Atlanta health systems, WellStar and Emory University, opted not to merge WellStar announced last week. WellStar has five hospitals in northwest metro Atlanta, including WellStar Paulding and Kennestone Regional Medical Center in Marietta.
WellStar Paulding President Mark Haney announced at last week’s Chamber Luncheon that the expansion of Paulding’s 265,000 square foot hospital complex will move forward with two additional floors. The addition comes sooner than had been originally anticipated. And, last week, the WellStar Board approved the plan.
