The AJC Cup is one of the oldest news organization award programs in the country. The prestigious award recognizes students like Luke Leathers, a recent graduate of Paulding County High School, who received the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Cup on Saturday, May 28.
On April 13, 2021, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office was the recipient of a grant totaling $301,905 which was obtained from the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The grant was disseminated from funds allocated by DHS and FEMA to the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA). The grant money was issued to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office by GEMA for the purchase and acquisition of a Lenco Bearcat G3 armored vehicle.
Congratulations to Delaney Brock awarded the 11th annual Zachary Williamson Memorial Scholarship. Delaney is a senior graduating this year from North Paulding High Schools Class of 2022 in Paulding County, GA. The Zachary Williamson Memorial Scholarship Fund was developed to honor the memory of Zachary Williamson whose life ended on August 14, 2010.

Mr. Springtime and Peter Rabbit celebrated reading and everything spring during three events held in mid-April on the library grounds. This hopping-good duo hid colorful eggs while 300 children hunted, in several different categories, by age for the treats.
Lieutenant Darryl Roach officially retired from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office. Thankfully, due to loosening COVID-19 restrictions, an official retirement celebration was held at the Sheriff’s Office with Lieutenant Roach’s family, friends, and co-workers.
Paulding County Rotary Club honored Fire Apparatus Operator (FAO), Andy Dale, with its 2022 Firefighter of the Year Award. In 2013, he transferred to PC Fire & Rescue where he quickly earned a reputation as a skilled Firefighter and a great leader. He currently serves at Station 2 in Hiram.
Lieutenant Ashley Hill was awarded the “Officer of the Year” award by the Paulding County Rotary Club. Lieutenant Hill was accompanied by Sheriff Gary Gulledge along with her family and supervisors at a luncheon held in her honor.
April 26, 2022, six Paulding County 4-H’ers traveled to Gordon County and competed in the Area Poultry Judging Competition. One hundred and three 4-H’ers across fourteen counties participated in the event. During the contest, participants judged both live specimens and market poultry, identified parts of birds already prepared for market, and evaluated eggs as to their quality and readiness for market.
