greystoneannual800GreyStone Power will host its Annual Meeting of Members on Saturday, Oct. 8, where
members will have their first opportunity to sign up for Cooperative Solar.
The Annual Meeting will be held from 8 a.m. until noon at GreyStone’s headquarters in
Douglasville, located at 4040 Bankhead Highway.
The event will kick off with a free Chick-fil- A® chicken biscuit, served from 8 to 10 a.m.
Members can register in the auditorium from 8 to 11 a.m. Members should bring a copy of their
electric bill to simplify the registration process.
Children will have plenty to keep them entertained with inflatables, rock walls, games,
balloon artists, face painting and a chance to meet a lineman.
At the Solar Expo tent, members can sign up to capture their share of the sun. Also, the
Solar Expo tent will feature Solar Energy 101 seminars led by GreyStone’s Residential Energy
Services department. The seminars will take place at 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. A door prize will be
given to one lucky winner at each session.
The Annual Meeting will also include a Health Fair tent to promote member wellness.
Many booths will be set up with various screenings and information from 8 until 11 a.m.
WellStar will offer free biometric screenings, as well as a blood sugar test from the
American Diabetes Association. Flu shots will also be offered for $29 or can be run through
insurance or Medicare.
At 9:45 a.m., Grammy-nominated artist John Ford Coley will perform an hour-long set for
members’ entertainment. Coley is known for songs like “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight” and
“Nights Are Forever Without You.”
A number of participating businesses who are active in the Co-op Connections® Card
(CCC) program will also be at the event for members to learn about the discounts they offer.
Soldiers’ Angels will be in attendance at the meeting as well, giving members a chance
to sign a Christmas card in support of a soldier overseas. Also, members can bring new gloves,
knit caps, socks and winter clothing items, which will be given to homeless veterans.
The business portion of the meeting starts at 11 a.m. and will include reports of officers,
directors and President/CEO Gary Miller.
Board seats that are up for election this year are District 3, located in portions of Douglas
and Paulding counties; District 5, located in portions of Carroll and Douglas counties; and
District 9, located in Cobb.
GreyStone’s Nominating Committee nominated incumbents David Hagenow (District 3),
and Jennifer DeNyse (District 5.) Lucy Andres (District 9) has been nominated to replace Ed
Garrard as he retires after 18 years of service to members.
A 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 truck will highlight the door prizes.
