Angela O'Conor Appointed Paulding Circuit Public Defender

public800Executive Director of the Georgia Public Defender Council has appointed Angela O’Conor as the Paulding Circuit Public Defender.
Angela received her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Science from the University of Tennessee in 2002. She attended John Marshall Law School while serving as a Marietta police officer and interning for two semesters with the Cobb County District Attorney’s office, earning her J.D. in 2008.
After graduating from law school, Angela spent four years with the Cobb County DA’s office where she handled all preliminary hearings and bond motions in Magistrate Court, prosecuted felonies and accompanying misdemeanors in Superior Court, and served as lead counsel in over 10 jury trials.
After joining the Paulding Circuit Public Defender Office in 2013, Angela began serving as Chief Assistant Public Defender in 2014, supervising and mentoring eight attorneys and managing the administrative assistants and investigators—all while successfully handling felony and misdemeanor cases in the Superior Court.
Married to Nicholas O’Conor, an investigator with Cobb County District Attorney’s Office, Angela is the proud mother of a four-year-old son, Greyson Reed O’Conor. She is a board member of the West Georgia Autism Foundation and co-chair of McKenna Farms Fundraising Committee.
Angela brings with her a successful history as an Assistant Public Defender in the Paulding Circuit, solid experience in criminal defense, and a proven commitment to the agency and its clients.
