Paulding Retired Educators Association January 2018 Meeting

The Paulding Retired Educators Association held its January meeting on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the Dallas First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Dr. Brian Otott, Superintendent of the Paulding County School District was our first speaker. Dr. Otott highlighted some of the special programs now offered by the school district and shared some of the areas of student improvement. He also brought with him the HJMS Chorus for our enjoyment. The chorus students did an excellent job and represented HJMS well. Our next speaker was Mr. J. D. Mitchell, a long-time member of the Shriners. Mr. Mitchell shared a little about the origin of the Shriners, and about the Shriners Hospitals which treat children with orthopedic and burn injuries. In keeping with the GREA President choosing Shriners Hospitals for Children as her humanitarian project this year, our local unit will be making a donation to Shriners. Our next PREA meeting will be March 13, 2018, at the Dallas FBC Fellowship Hall.
