Jim Ashworth Announces Candidacy for Post 4 Commissioner

post 4 390Local community servant has announced his intention to campaign for the 2019 – 2022 Post 4 Commission Seat. Over the last three years, Ashworth has been discussing with people in the community how dissatisfied they are with the current commissioners’ inability to work together. After three months of soul searching, discussing with his family and community business owners, he would like to announce he has decided to run for County Commissioner for Post Four.
Unity, Progress, and Results: These are Ashworth’s commitments to the people of Paulding County. He says we need to unite the commissioner’s office, to lead by example, and make good sound decisions to unify the county. With unity, progress, and results the Commissioners will show to the citizens that they can manage effectively.
Ashworth has been involved in the Paulding County community for years serving in numerous capacities to help promote businesses and a Pro-Business atmosphere for furthering economic development. This is a central key to lowering our personal property taxes. Through Ashworth’s 6 years of military and 40 + years of business experience, he has developed a successful managerial style that gets the job done. Ashworth says he believes you should “say what you will do and do what you say”. He has served as Chairman of the Board for Paulding Chamber of Commerce. While Ashworth chaired the Chamber he was instrumental in establishing many initiatives. They included the designation as a “Georgia Certified Camera Ready County”; A tourism program that produced a Silver Comet Trail Map; The creation of a “Work Ready Program” of our local workforce; Organized the first annual Washington Fly-In trip; and Hosted a first-ever TRI County Luncheon that included Bartow, Polk and Paulding Counties to promote working together.
Ashworth’s involvement with the school district over the years has developed several new programs. Ashworth is a founding board member and the Chairman of the Paulding Education Foundation. The Foundation gives back to the schools through scholarships to seniors and school grants of over Twenty Five Thousand Dollars a year. The Partner’s in Education Program was modified to increase the number of participants. Working with the State Education Department he was able to bring back a State-sponsored Junior Achievement Program for our middle schools. The Star Student Program sponsored by the Chamber was significantly enhanced for greater acknowledgment of our students. Ashworth served on an Advisory Board at KSU for Early Childhood Development.
Therefore, Ashworth brings strong business and governmental program experience to the Commission Board that can help lead this County.
Ashworth has 10 campaign agenda items he wants to get completed over the next four years. They range from economic development initiatives, transportation/infrastructures planning, Special Needs Children programs, an Aquatics Center, establish a North Paulding County Annex Office to serve our citizens in the northern part of the district.
