Trudy Sowar Announces Candidacy For Paulding Board Of Education District 5 Representative

Hello Friends, Neighbors, and Citizens of Paulding County,
I would like to announce my candidacy to serve as your representative on the Paulding County Board of Education, District 5. I have dedicated my life to public education and would be honored to continue to serve our citizens as a member of the Board. My experience in every position I have held in education, paraprofessional to superintendent, gives me a unique perspective. After my retirement as Superintendent of Paulding County in 2007, I joined the Georgia School Boards Association as Director of Risk Management. I also directed the superintendent search service for the Association the last two years before my retirement in 2017.
If elected, I will not accept a stipend or health benefits. I have both the time and experience to serve and I believe because of my wide-ranging experience in education I can bring strength to our elected leadership team. As our board members and superintendent know, we must function as a team with unique roles and responsibilities. The strength of the board of education directly affects the students, staff, and progress of the district. We have all heard stories of dysfunctional school, city, or county government boards. This not only makes for bad public relations, it can have a lasting impact on future progress. No matter what job you have in education, it takes everyone giving their all to be truly successful as a district.
My husband, Doug, and I have five children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. We have enjoyed living in Paulding County for the last eighteen years. We are members of the Cattlemen’s Association and the Paulding County Farm Bureau where Doug serves on the board. I humbly solicit your support and your vote. Thank you!
