West Georgia American Idol Contestant Still In The Fold

Caleb Hutchinson was with other American Idol competitors at the Atlanta Car Expo doing interviews and signing autographs. “We were near our booth and it was great being with our fans especially all the support that I have received from my friends in Paulding, Haralson, and Douglas counties,” said Hutchinson.
Hutchinson began his move toward Idol triumph when he auditioned in Savannah last Fall when the Judges (Katy Perry, Georgia Country Artist Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie) gave him his ticket to Hollywood. “I did not know what was going to occur in Savannah since there were hundreds of people waiting in line for their chance at stardom also.” After Hutchinson got his opportunity from the judges, he came out of the room and said that “World Domination” was next for him.
Hutchinson attended new Georgia and Nebo Elementary Schools and South Paulding Middle and High Schools, but he stated that his home was almost on the Highway 61 Villa Rica area. Hutchinson is no stranger to performing in front of an audience. “When the BRIDGE non-profit organization arranged a competitive show at Mill Town Music Hall when I was only 14, I won the competition award and there were many people in the audience. That evolved into four dates when I opened up for artists like Gene Watson, T. Graham Brown and Jimmy Fortune.” In three of those concerts, Hutchinson received standing ovations.“I usually am able to perform once or twice a week in all kinds of venues in Jasper and Nashville in addition to weddings, pubs, and Mexican Restaurants. “I also had the pleasure of playing for millions of people on The Voice. “It was so cool. The best thing was that I had the chance to talk with Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.”
The next level after receiving the go-ahead to Hollywood was the infamous Group presentations where several contestants merge with other singers.” “We had to select a song and I was glad that there was another country-oriented person in my group. We did not have much time to get together and practice but I was fortunate to be with three other people who were just as motivated as I was. We decided to pick a song that Miranda Lambert recorded, “Mama’s Broken Heart.” All went well and three of the four singers, including myself, went on to the third round.”
Hutchinson came out of that level and sang another tune in the solo round where he, again, survived another Idol Tier and is on his way to being in the top echelon. Most of the contenders have worked hard but also have made new friends. “It’s really great to see other singers clapping their hands after you have performed, and I too have made a lot of friends. There is a sort of camaraderie between the singers, although every one of us wants to be the American Idol winner.” As of now, Hutchinson is in the top 24 tier.
Caleb has recorded a CD already and it has gotten good reviews and there are venues waiting for Idol to be over so he can come home to West Georgia and perform for his growing audience.
