mckinney Retirement Photo(Paulding County, GA) On Thursday, August 9, 2018, a retirement reception was held in honor of Detention Officer Mike McKinney at the Paulding County Detention Center where he was surrounded by his friends, family, and coworkers. Detention Officer McKinney began his career in law enforcement with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office on August 6, 2008, and officially retired on August 9, 2018.
When he began his career with the Sheriff’s Office, Detention Officer McKinney started out as a Jailer in the Detention Center. After working in the Detention Center he transferred to the Inmate Workforce Division where he helped oversee the inmates who work outside of the jail on various work details throughout the county.
Over the years, Detention Officer McKinney has helped at numerous local events to include Paulding Meadows Arts and Crafts Festival, the Run With the Badges 5K Glow Run, as well as numerous other events. Sheriff Gary Gulledge stated, “Mr. McKinney, as he was affectionately referred to by his co-workers, is someone that will be truly missed. He was a hard worker and was always fair and just to the inmates he oversaw on a daily basis. We are going to really miss him; however, we wish him the best of luck on his much-deserved retirement.”
Detention Officer McKinney’s law enforcement career has spanned over 10 years. During his tenure as a law enforcement officer, he has seen many changes in the Detention Center. We want to wish “Mr. McKinney” a happy and relaxing retirement. Now he will have plenty of time to enjoy life, spend time with his family, and tend to his bees.
