Quilt of Valor Presentation

August 13, 2019, the local Quilt of Valor Foundation presented Ray Cochran with a beautiful quilt for his service to our nation. Ms. Sharon Beauilieu, the Group Leader of Freedom Quilters GA, made the presentation along with Ms. Sandy Geho and Ms. Bea West. August 13th is of particular importance to Mr. Cochran, as this was the date in 1970 that he returned from Vietnam and was discharged from the U.S. Army. The Quilts of Valor Foundation was begun in 2003 to honor and comfort veterans. To date Quilts of Valor Foundation has recorded the awarding of 226,042 Quilts. Al Lind, a WWII POW, became dedicated to making quilts for QOV in February 2007, and by the time of his death, September 2010, he had pieced over 450 quilts. If you would like to join a group, become an individual member or donate to this organization you can learn more online at QOVF.org.
