Happy New Year from Paulding Fine Arts. We have a lot of great “art-portunities” for our community this year!

We have two classes for adults. Beginning Monday, January 13 is a watercolor class with Jill Williams instructing. The class will begin at 10:30 am and conclude at 12:30 pm. The 6–week session will end February 17. This is a perfect class for both beginners and seasoned artists. The application can be found at the gallery and on our Facebook page: Paulding Fine Arts Association. The class fee for the 6-week session is $130.
Beginning Wednesday, February 5 is an oil painting class with Gary Baughman. The class will begin at 9:30 am and concludes at 12:30 pm. The 6-week session will end on March 11. This class focuses on landscapes, preparing students for Plein Air painting. The application can be found at the gallery and on our Facebook page. The class fee for the 6-week session is $100.
art judge 600Our January-February exhibit is “Remembering Normandy” and features the photography of Frederick Henderson of Dallas, former Chief Magistrate of Paulding County. A reception and informative talk will be held Sunday, January 26, 2020, at 2:00 pm at the Historic Courthouse Gallery & Studios located on the 2nd floor of the OLD Paulding courthouse building at 11 Courthouse Square in downtown Dallas GA. On the 26th Frederick will also have some authentic WWII memorabilia his father brought home from the war available. This is a great opportunity for photography, art and history buffs alike. The informative talk will begin at approximately 2:30 pm.
Our annual Student Art Show is also coming up. We are proud to welcome LGE as a sponsor for our 2020 competition. Students may submit their work Thursday, January 30, Friday, January 31 or Saturday, February 1 between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm at the Historic Courthouse Gallery & Studios. The entry fee is $2.00. Students aged 3 years to 18 years who are residents of Paulding County are eligible to enter. One art piece per child. Cash prizes, ribbons, and certificates will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners. Honorable Mention winners will be awarded a ribbon and certificate. The reception and awards presentation will be held Sunday, February 9, 2020, at 2:00 pm at the Dallas Civic Center and Theater. Civic Center entrance is at 121 E Griffin St, Theater entrance is at 208 Main Street, but is accessible from the Civic Center. The application can be picked up at the gallery or found on our Facebook page: Paulding Fine Arts Association. Students placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention will have their art on display at the Historic Courthouse Gallery & Studios during the month of March.
