Actor Joey Thurmond’s Warmth For Winter Project Donates Hundreds of Articles of Warm Clothing and Personal Supplies to Locals in Need

JoeyThurmondSince being founded in 2013 The Warmth for Winter Project founded by local Actor Joey Thurmond has accumulated and distributed over twenty thousand pieces of warm clothing, sleeping bags, shoes, undergarments, personal care items, and more for all ages. “The youngest person that I know we have helped was about 3 weeks old and living with her mother in their car”, said Joey. Each year Warmth for Winter reaches out and individuals, schools, churches, businesses, civic organizations, and others have answered the call to help. Through the generous donations that come from all over the country Warmth for Winter has been able to help those in need and guarantee that 100% of all donations go directly to those in need. “My family and I drive and pick up or arrange for drop off of all the items and then help distribute them to individuals and organizations that are in need of items. If it weren’t for everyone at each stage it would be impossible to accomplish”, said Joey. Items for the 2019-20 year came from as far away as Texas and others were directed and trained on how to donate items in two other cities across the country.
Immediately after the wildfires in TN two years ago where many were left homeless and without any day to day personal items, Warmth for Winter was one of the very first trucks to arrive with much-needed items. “We have seen first hand through our personal dealings with those in need that what we are doing is not only life-saving at times but, can also be life-changing”, Thurmond said.
Warmth for Winter can be reached through social media via their FaceBook page. Donations of new or gently used warm articles of clothing or personal care items such as toiletries are accepted year-round. Individuals, Churches, Schools, Civic Organizations, etc. are welcome to contact the project to learn how to get involved and help.
“It’s not our job to judge but, to follow God’s direction and help”, said Joey. “I am so honored to be of service and thankful to be able to say that 100% of our donations go directly to those in need. That is very important to me”. Joey Thurmond
