WM600Tony Wilson Installed as Worshipful Master. The 164th Annual Installation of the Officers of Dallas Masonic Lodge No. 182 was held on Sunday January 10th, at their Lodge Hall in Dallas. The event was open to the public.
The Lodge was honored by the presence of the Grand Master of Masons in Georgia, Most Worshipful Brother F. Andrew Lane, Jr., who made an Official Visit. Not only did Grand Master Lane attend, he also presided over much of the occasion. His presence and timely, inspirational remarks were warmly received by all in attendance. The theme of his remarks was “Living the Learning”, alluding to the need for every Mason to put into even more daily practice the lessons learned and taught within the Fraternity. It is also this year's motto of the Grand Lodge of Georgia, F&AM.
WM ladies600Tony Wilson, son of Hugh and Faustine Wilson, was duly installed Worshipful Master of Dallas Lodge. The Worshipful Master is an elected office, and is an expression by the Lodge members of their trust and confidence in the leadership abilities and wisdom of the individual. The title has no religious overtones at all; it is a holdover from the language of Medieval England, where it was used as a title of respect and deference (as in “worshipful parents”, or “Worshipful Mayor”). Because of its ancient age, many such old words, idioms, and phrases, and indeed customs and practices, have been handed down the centuries in the rituals and ceremonies of the Fraternity.
Wilson expressed his strong desire to lead the Lodge during his year in office, to continue the good works of the Lodge, and asked for the support of his Officers and the Brethren.
Prior to the Installation ceremonies, members and their families and friends were feted to a huge array of delicious hors d'oeuvres prepared by Ladies of the Worshipful Master's family.
Freemasonry is the world's oldest fraternal organization. The design of the Masonic Institution is to make its members wiser, better, and consequently happier; and this is accomplished by means of a series of moral instructions, taught according to ancient usage, by types, symbols, allegorical figures and lectures.
