The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office arrested Quincy Lynch (B/M, 23 YOA) and Marsha Lynch (B/F, 45 YOA) in connection with the death of 8 year old Sharia Lynch. Sharia was the daughter of Marsha Lynch and the sister of Quincy Lynch. On October 17, 2015 at 5:06 pm Deputies with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office responded to 442 Fairview Drive in reference to an accidental shooting. When Deputies and Fire/EMS personnel arrived, they discovered two victims with gunshot wounds. The adult victim, identifed as Marsha Lynch suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to Floyd Medical Center where she underwent surgery. The juvenile victim, identified as Sharia Lynch (B/F, 8 YOA), suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to an awaiting life flight helicopter. As she was being transported to the helicopter, her condition worsened and she was rerouted to the hospital. Miss Sharia Lynch passed away while enroute to Wellstar Paulding Hospital.
Originally, Marsha Lynch stated that the weapon (which was a semi-automatic handgun), fell from a table and discharged once it hit the ground. She further stated that when the gun hit the ground, it discharged and struck the mothers leg first and then traveled into the childs head.
Once the autopsy had been performed, Forensic Pathologists with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab indicated that Sharia Lynch did not die as a result of the bullet entering her head the way Marsha Lynch and Quincy Lynch had originally explained. Forensic Pathologists indicated that the bullet struck Sharia Lynch’s head first and then traveled through into Marsha Lynch’s leg. This information indicates that the story about the gun falling off of a table and accidently discharging is false.
It must be noted that the reason there was such a delay from the time the incident occurred, to the time an arrest was made, was because Detectives requested that the firearm used in this case be analyzed by firearms examaniers at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab. Once the analysis had been conducted, it was determined that the firearm was functioning properly and that it could not have accidently discharged. They further concluded that the firearm did not malfunction the way that Marsha and Quincy Lynch originally explained.

As of now, Marsha Lynch and Quincy Lynch have been charged with the following offenses:

  • Marsha Lynch: Obstruction (M)
  • Quincy Lynch: Involuntary Manslaughter (F), Reckless Conduct (M)

Both Marsha and Quincy Lynch have bonded out of our jail. At this point, the case has been turned over to the Paulding County District Attorney’s Office and any further inquires will have to be directed to their office.
