DALLAS – Rep. Howard Maxwell (R-Dallas) received a 2016 “Champion of Georgia’s Cities Award” from the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA). The award, given at the end of every two-year legislative term to state legislators who actively support major GMA initiatives and goals, was presented to Maxwell on May 2.
Rep. Maxwell assisted GMA and its members by sponsoring GMA pension bills. He actively supported municipal employees, evidenced by his carrying of SB 336 in the House of Representatives. SB 336 ensures that municipal retirement systems have the most efficient oversight and flexibility necessary that ensures protection of employee investments and taxpayers’ money. “We are grateful for Rep. Maxwell’s willingness to support city government and listen to our issues and concerns,” said GMA Executive Director Lamar Norton. “I’m confident that residents of all Georgia Cities will benefit from Maxwell’s strong leadership.”
Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and consulting services to its 520 member cities.
