Outstanding high school students from across the nation took part in a unique career development opportunity

Savannah 600The National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Engineering & Technology, an Envision Program. The eight-day, intensive program challenged scholars to become leaders of engineering and technology innovation in the 21st century. North Paulding High School student Miss Savannah Barker had the honor of attending this seminar at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

Savannah did a capstone project in video game design. They also did 3D modeling, helicopter and robotics workshops. She met people from all over the US and a good friend and room mate of hers was from Puerto Rico. She stayed on campus and got to see what campus life is like. In order to attend, the students must possess leadership qualities and have a 3.5 GPA or above. Savannah was nominated based on test scores and she is in the top 40 of her freshman class. She has made it to state level national history day at Mercer University, has gone to Paulding County honor band, District honor band, member of Duke TIP, Jr Beta, and Beta.

Savannah is an upcoming sophomore at NPHS and a member of the NPHS marching band. Her grandfather, Wade Terrell, is owner/CEO of West Cobb Engineering, also in Paulding, so she seems to be following in his footsteps.
Savannah plans to attend Ga Tech to pursue engineering but also has a huge passion for music. We wish you much success Savannah!
