Local Students Attend Fall Leadership Rally

Perry, GA – Youth from the South Paulding High School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently participated in a motivational rally held on Wednesday, October 12 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia. Over 4,700 students and advisers from schools across Georgia participated in the leadership rally session and competed in events. Along with other advisers and members from across the state, South Paulding High School's FCCLA Chapter Adviser, Patrice Martin, accompanied 22 members to the meeting.
The Georgia National Fair competitions began on Tuesday, October 11 with students competing in the Annual Chili Cook-Off for high school and middle school students. The next day, students attended the 2016 FCCLA Fall Leadership Rally in Reaves Arena. The motivational rally was followed by the Peanut Recipe Contest sponsored by Georgia Peanut Commission, the Family and Consumer Sciences Knowledge Bowl, Culinary Knowledge Bowl, Middle School Knowledge Bowl and the Culinary Competition.
The members from the South Paulding High School gained social experience and got to mingle with fellow FCCLA members from all around the state of Georgia. It also gave members a chance to converse with other members from South Paulding High School that they had never associated with previously. All attending FCCLA members got the chance to listen to Jaycob Curlee, a previous America’s Got Talent contestant, about how he kept his hope and stayed inspired to follow his dreams even though his life didn’t start the way he might have wished it had. The overall experience helped FCCLA members learn to be more social and taught them how they should never give up on their dreams.
