8th Annual Hoops for Hope Spartans for the Cause

This has been an annual event that the South Paulding High School girls varsity basketball head coach Kelly Nye-Hinkson puts together for both the boys and girls varsity basketball program. Coach Nye got her inspiration for the event from her grandmother Ruth Nye. Her grandmother had survived breast cancer , but In 2007 she passed away from liver cancer. At that time, Nye-Hinkson was in her 2nd year of coaching at SPHS. " I wanted to help people who have been affected by cancer" In 2014 her own dad was affected by prostate cancer. The effort to raise money for cancer awareness and research have continued each year since 2007. The games are played in honor of those individuals, families, and friends in our community who have been affected by cancer. Each season between varsity games the Spartans recognize individuals and families within the school and community with a special presentation. We would like to say thank you to everyone who attended the games and supported this important cause.
