PATRIOTS EDGED BY WILDCATS 42-38

The Paulding County Patriots hosted the Villa Rica Wildcats in a crucial region matchup Friday night at Dave Hardin stadium in Dallas. The Patriots badly needed a victory but fell to 2-4 (1-3) on the season in a close game.It was a back and forth struggle throughout with the lead changing hands many times. It was not so much that the Patriots lost the game but rather that they simply ran out of time.
The Wildcats ran their record to 4-2(3-1) with a potent running game that the Patriots struggled to slow down. The Wildcats were led by running backs Elijah Fluker and Xavier Hill who combined for almost 200 yards rushing and scored all 6 of their touchdowns with Fluker scoring 5 times. While the Wildcats were proficient at the ground game the Patriots matched them with an explosive air assault. Brantley Mauldin led the assault throwing for 266 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jacorian Boykin led the receivers with 8 catches for 94 yards and a touchdown. Also catching touchdown passes were Malik Branch and Jason Ledford.
The Patriots have to get back on the winning track and the prospects look good as a winless Woodland team comes to town next week for Homecoming.
