The Hiram Hornets volleyball team hosted the Locust Grove Wildcats in the first round of the state playoffs. Hiram was the number 2 seed from Area 7 (5A) and the visitors from Henry County were the number 3 seed from their region 4. It was a very exciting match that went 5 games to determine the winner. Locust Grove pulled out the victory by winning the final game 15-13 and ending the season for the Hornets.
The Hornets have been a regular in the playoffs every year since 2011 and were hopeful to get past the first round this year. This was a very exciting match that could have easily went either way but when the final serve was hit the ladies from Locust Grove advanced to the second round to play Buford.
