The South Paulding Spartans pull out a win against the New Manchester Jaguars this past Friday night. The Spartans took their first win of the season in a hard fought game from both teams. The Spartan’s scored first with a TD from #42 Jarek Gibbons to take a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter. The Spartan defense held strong and regain the ball for the Spartan’s. The offense look as if they would dominate the game with another TD with a pass from #17 Jacob Gravett to #11 Cam Wyche to take the lead 13-0. On the ensuing kick off the Jaguars returned the ball for a TD with a completed PAT to bring the score to 13-7. The Spartan offense once again drove down field with a rushing TD from Jarek Gibbons to extend the Spartan lead 19-7 to end the half with the momentum.
The Jaguars would not give up and bounced back to eventually take the lead 28-26, But the Spartan’s would not give up and fought back to regain the lead and end the game at 40-30 for their first victory of the year. After the game Coach Koester praised the team for not giving up and let the team know that they have turned a corner as a team.
This Friday night The Spartans host the Mays Raiders for South’s senior night in the last home game for the 2016 season.
