North Paulding Wolfpack’s season came to an End
Dallas, GA. The North Paulding Wolfpack’s season came to an end after dropping Game 3 of the 3rd Round State Playoff series to the Mill Creek Hawks. The two teams split the first two extra-inning games, with Mill Creek taking Game 1 5-3 in 8-innings, while the Pack outlasted the Hawks 2-0 in the nine-inning nightcap. In Game 1 North Paulding battled back from a 3-run deficit to tie the game in the 4th with back-to-back RBI singles from RF Zack Bright and 3B JoJo Kelliher. Mill Creek scored two runs in the top of the 8th and held off the Pack in the bottom of the inning to preserve the win. In Game 2 the Pack won in dramatic fashion in the ninth inning. 1B Nick Colina laced a two-out double down the left field line and scored when LF Mickey Maguire roped a line-drive single to left. Maguire eventually scored on the play as an errant throw by the Mill Creek catcher sailed into the outfield. Pitcher Jakob Brown then closed out his complete-game shutout in the bottom of the ninth to even up the series. Mill Creek took an early lead in Game 3 and never relinquished it, limiting the Pack to just 2 hits over seven innings. The Pack achieved the highest season win total in school history, finishing the 2017 season 24-12, and reaching the Elite 8 for the second time. Losing just three seniors from this year’s team, Coach Dennis Jordan’s North Paulding squad has high hopes for even more success next season.
