Hiram High School Wrestling Team

Here at Hiram High School, we have a Wrestling team, but our team, unlike others in the state, has girls. Last season, we ended the year with five young women on our team and made it our mission to increase our numbers. Recruiting was the job of the returning girls. Presently, we have twenty-four girls on our roster, which I count as a huge success for the Hornet Wrestling Team. Throughout the course of the season, we will have dates on our schedule dedicated solely to female wrestling matches. For example, on November 30th, Hiram's girls will wrestle Alexander's girls in Georgia's first ever Girls' Dual Meet (to my knowledge). Girls' wrestling is growing in our country and has become a recognized sport by many state associations. We are proud of the work our girls are putting in and look forward to watching them compete. I have no doubt that our girls will persevere this season. Last season, two of our returners placed in the Team Georgia Girls' State Championship. Morgan Wilmoth placed fourth, and Mia Kurashima won the championship for Hiram High School in the 122-pound weight class.
