Region Player of Year awarded to East Paulding standout
The GHSA 7-5A "Region Player of Year" was awarded to East Paulding Girls Soccer standout Lauren Bergevine and East's Kim Black picked up her first All-Region selection at a banquet on Thursday.
Bergevine earned First-Team All-Region and Region Player of the Year honors. She is a three-time All-Region award winner and enjoyed a remarkable career at East Paulding. The Senior team Captain netted 24 goals this season and 65 for her career leading East Paulding back to the state playoffs. She will be playing college soccer at Truett McConnell University.
Kim Black, a first-time All-Region award winner, earned Second-Team All-Region honors. She had a strong season in the offensive end and scored 9 goals in her breakout season. Black, only a Junior, will be back for a Senior season at East.
The Region awards are voted by the coaches from all the Region teams and signify the respect earned around the league.
