Newly elected officers for 2017-2018 were installed at the American Legion Post 111 in Dallas on July 15, 2017.

Several visiting dignitaries representing each of the four groups of the American Legion Family presided over the event. Larry Diehl, from the American Legion Department of Georgia and member of the American Legion National Security Commission, installed the new Post 111 Commander, Bill Fleisch, a United States Marine Corps Reserve Veteran. Marie Dennis, the American Legion Auxiliary 2016-2017 President for the 5th District of Georgia, presided over the installation of Wanda Callahan, who will continue again this year as President of the Ladies Auxiliary at Post 111. Dale Barnett, the 2017 Director of Activities for Boys Nation, the 2015-2016 National Commander of the American Legion and a member of the Sons of the American Legion, installed Ryan Carroll as the returning Commander of the Sons of the American Legion. Tony Propst, the State Director for the Department of Georgia of the American Legion Riders, installed John Cagle, who was re-elected as the Director of the American Legion Riders at Post 111.
Membership in the American Legion is open to eligible war era veterans and their family members. Post 111 is very active in supporting veterans and the local community. A few of their annual events include a Gold Star Mother's and Families Luncheon, Cookies with Santa & Mrs. Claus, an Easter Egg hunt complete with a visit by the Easter Bunny and a “Trunk or Treat” event in October. These are just a sampling of events held at the American Legion in Dallas.
Post 111 will be holding an “Open House” with refreshments for interested members of the public who would like to learn more about membership at the American Legion on Sunday, August 13th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Veterans as well as many of the newly elected officers and representatives from all four groups of the American Legion Family will be on hand to answer questions. Post 111 is located at 2587 Scoggins Road in Dallas. The Post can be contacted at (770)445-2759 for further information.newofficers800
