Northside to hold remembrance service with 9/11 rescuer Dave Karnes

This Sunday marks the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on our nation. To commemorate this day and honor the lives lost on 9/11, Northside Baptist Church will be holding a special service of remembrance. Special guest speaker will be 9/11 hero and rescuer Staff Sergeant Dave Karnes. Karnes, now a manager with Deloitte Consulting, was a former Marine on 9/11 when he left his Wilton, Conn. office and drove to the site of the World Trade Center to offer his assistance. Of the few survivors to be rescued from the rubble of the site were NYC police officers Will Jimeno and John McLoughlin – located and helped to rescue by Karnes and another Marine, Jason Thomas. Following the incident, Karnes reenlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve and deployed twice to Iraq during the next 17 months. Karnes' story was featured in Oliver Stone's movie World Trade Center with Nicholas Cage.
Karnes will be speaking this Sunday, September 11 at 10:30 AM at Northside Baptist Church in Dallas. During this special service, local civil servants will be honored for their service to our community. Lunch will follow. Pastor Shad Smith invites you to join the Northside congregation this Sunday as they honor the brave men and women who serve to protect our community and our country.
