Ribbon Cutting for S.H.A.R.E. House

A Paulding Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting was held on June 19th for S.H.A.R.E House, Inc., a Domestic Violence Crisis Intervention Center certified to provide services to Douglas and Paulding Counties, Georgia. For over 27 years, S.H.A.R.E. House has been a safe haven for victims looking for assistance. The goal of the organization is to bring a sense of order and stability into the lives of women, men, and children, and reduce future risks of victimization and displacement.
S.H.A.R.E House is a state certified shelter offering emergency shelter for victims fleeing from domestic violence. For over 27 years, S.H.A.R.E. House has been a safe haven for victims looking for assistance in the Douglas County community. The goal of the organization is to bring a sense of order and stability into the lives of women and children and reduce future risks of victimization and displacement.shareServices include a 24-hour crisis line and shelter, transitional housing, individualized client-centered case planning and management, legal advocacy (Temporary Protective Orders), trauma therapy, homeless prevention, children and youth services/groups, psychoeducation support groups, psychosocial assessments, parenting classes and a Rapid Re-Housing program. S.H.A.R. E House also provides fully furnished transitional apartments maintained for families transitioning from homelessness to violence-free permanent housing.
Founded by a survivor of family violence, the agency provides services, resources, and education to address the unthinkable crime of family violence. S.H.A.R.E. House is an acronym for Someone Helping Another through Resources and Education, with the belief that education and community resources are the beginning steps that move families from abuse and poverty to violence-free and self-sufficient living.
According to Teresa Smith, Executive Director, S.H.A.R.E. House has received over 2,000 crisis calls during 2017 provided over 19,000 bed nights in their housing programs and provided over 40,000 services to Domestic Violence victims. S.H.A.R.E. House has also been successful in placing families into permanent housing within the community.
