Ivy Springs Subdivision Suspicious Incident
(Paulding County, GA) On Wednesday January 11, 2017 at approximately 4:30 pm, Deputies responded to Ivy Springs Subdivision reference an attempted child abduction. Upon arrival, Deputies and Detectives spoke with the victim, who is a 10 year old female and she explained what happened. The female juvenile stated she was playing in the cul- de-sac of Kaleb Court which is adjacent to Joshua Lane. Kaleb Court is inside the Ivy Springs Subdivision which is in the New Hope Community of Paulding County. According to what Detectives have been able to uncover, the juvenile was in the cul-de- sac awaiting the return of some friends that she had previously been playing with. While she was sitting on her bicycle in the cul-de-sac waiting on her friends to return, a male subject came up from behind her and grabbed her on the shoulder. Once the male touched her shoulder, he ran from the scene in the wooded area behind some homes.
As soon as this took place, the juvenile went to her friend’s home and alerted her friend’s parent about what took place. That parent immediately took the juvenile victim back to her residence which is inside the subdivision. While they were enroute back to the juvenile victim’s residence, the victim along with another juvenile friend stated that they saw the male running in the wood line parallel to Kaleb Court. The parent who was driving the juvenile victim back to her residence never saw the male suspect.
The male suspect is described as a white male with shaggy red hair, a mustache, along with some other possible facial hair. He was further described to be in his mid-twenties to early thirties and was wearing a blue shirt, red shorts, and black and white Nike shoes. The juvenile victim also stated that she noticed the male had some type of black cloth or rag in his hand as he was running away.
At this point, we have had an opportunity to canvas the neighborhood and obtain some more accurate facts about what took place yesterday afternoon. We want to make sure that the public is aware that the child was not injured, not abducted, nor was the child even spoken to by the suspect. The incident location as it was originally reported was in the cul-de-sac of Ivy Springs Drive at Kessle Lane. We have since determined that the actual incident location was within the cul-de-sac of Kaleb Court in the area of Joshua Lane. The Sheriff’s Office wants to ensure the community that this situation is being thoroughly investigated and that we are following up on leads as they come in.
