Paulding County Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Scholarship 2022

This year, the Paulding County Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Scholarship reached its 13th year and was awarded to, two very worthy, recent high school graduates, from Paulding County. This scholarship expansion was thanks in part to generous community donations, and to funds generated from the Annual Paulding Master Gardener Plant Sale. The scholarship is open to any student who is a Paulding County resident enrolled in a Georgia College or Technical School studying horticulture, botany, forestry, agriculture, or biology-related field. Paulding County Master Gardeners are committed to helping to create the next generation of those interested in horticulture and related fields. Awarding this scholarship each year speaks to that commitment.
Faith Wert is a 2022 graduate of South Paulding High School. She was a member of the National Honors Society, Science Honor Society, and Beta Club, as well as the South Paulding volleyball team. In 2021, Faith was also a 2021 Governor’s Honors Finalist for Biology. Faith will attend the University of Georgia in the fall and plans to study Botany.
The second recipient is Nathan Phillips. Nathan graduated from North Paulding High School in 2022, where he was active in FFA (Future Farmers of America), where he served as Vice President, DECA, and Beta Club. He has also received Student Spotlight honors from the Georgia Council of Trout Unlimited, of which he is a member. In the fall, Nathan will attend Georgia Highlands College, to pursue a major in Fisheries and Forestry.
Paulding County Master Gardeners are proud to recognize both honorees’ hard work and to assist them with their continued educational endeavors.   Are you interested in applying for the next round of Master Gardener Scholarships? applications are made available in January of each year and the scholarship is awarded in the spring.  You can learn more about the scholarship at www.ugaextension.org/paulding
