joeduvallThe First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) awarded Dallas Police Chief Joe Duvall the Patriot Award for his outstanding commitment to public safety and for pioneering innovations in Paulding County public safety communications.
During his tenure as Chief, he has led efforts to introduce and integrate broadband technologies into public safety communications to improve safety and operations. He migrated his entire department to FirstNet, including patrol and dispatch operations, becoming the first agency in the state — and one of the first in the nation — to switch from land mobile radios to broadband communications in 2021.
Under his leadership, the City of Dallas has been recognized as one of the safest five percent of cities in Georgia.
A 38-year veteran of law enforcement, a Navy veteran, and a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy, Chief Duvall also holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbus State University.
Before being appointed Chief of Police for the Dallas Police Department in 2018, he served with the City of Marietta Police Department for 31 years.
The Patriot Award was presented to five leaders in public safety by FirstNet Authority Executive Director and CEO Joe Wassel at the 5×5: Public Safety Innovation Summit in Chicago, Illinois.
