JOHNNY E. McBURROWS was born in Barney, Ga. where he attended the Colquitt County Public School System and graduated from William Bryant High School in 1961. Furthering his education, he attended Atlanta Law School (1968-1970). He earned his undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies (1992) and his Doctorate of Divinity on May 6, 2017 both from Carver Bible College and Institute in Atlanta, Ga.
Pastor McBurrows accepted his calling in 1975 and was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel under the leadership of the Dr. Clayton E. Taylor, Sr. Pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in East Point, Georgia. He was installed on May 11, 1980, as the Pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Dallas, Georgia, where he has been a faithful servant leader for 45 years. Over the years, he has educated a plethora of Ministers, mentored young Pastors, Deacons and Elders and has provided divine counsel to many Civic and Governmental Leaders.
Pastor McBurrows retired in 2002 from MARTA after 29 years of service. He has been married for over 47 years to the former Augustine Pullen and is the father of Erica Joy (Minister Timothy Kenney) and he loves spending time caring for his handsome grandson, Braxton.
Dr. Johnny E. McBurrows is most proud of serving as the Chaplain of the Paulding County Judicial Circuit and serving as the Dean of the Carroll-Douglas Bible Extension School where he enjoys practical teaching, studying the Scriptures and sharing God ‘s revelations. In 2016, he established the South Georgia Academe for Protestant Ministers in Moultrie, Georgia under the outreach ministry of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with philanthropic funds, and serves as the Founder/Comptroller. This school was established to educate and train Protestant Ministers in the surrounding communities.
In Paulding County, Dr. McBurrows leads a life of distinguished service to others through his ministerial career; giving his personal time and energy in leadership roles in the community and community boards, most notable are: President of the Paulding County Ministerial Association, Representative on the WellStar Paulding Hospital Pastoral Counseling Staff, WellStar Regional Hospital Authority Board, Paulding County Helping Hands, Paulding Health Department Board, former member of Paulding County Library Board of Trustees, Chairman of Paulding County Tax Assessor Board, and a member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Association Prison Ministry. Dr. McBurrows has received numerous accolades and honors; Paulding County issued him a Proclamation in 2010, the State of Georgia issued him a Proclamation in 2015, and recently in 2021, he was honored by being named Paulding County Citizen of Year.
