The Paulding County High School (PCHS) HOSA chapter has evolved into a premier powerhouse for future healthcare professionals, marked by an extraordinary trajectory of growth and a deep rooted commitment to the Dallas community. This student-led organization has seen its membership double in size every year, a testament to the high-caliber environment that encourages students to log thousands of community service hours while pursuing clinical excellence. The chapter’s success is not limited to the local level, while members work tirelessly to secure top spots at the Georgia HOSA State Leadership Conference, PCHS HOSA has proudly produced winners at both the national and international levels, proving that these students can compete with the best in the world.
This success stems from a hands-on model that puts student officers in charge, giving them direct experience in leading a major organization and advocating for their peers. The Paulding County Executive Officer Team recently traded their scrubs for business professional attire, heading to the Georgia State Capitol to serve as the voice for the district’s future healthcare professionals. This visit provided the student leaders with a premier platform to network with state officials, advocate for career based education, and represent the interests of HOSA members across all of Paulding County’s schools. At the heart of this thriving program is advisor Jo Swena, whose relentless dedication to her students recently earned her a well-deserved nomination for Georgia HOSA Advisor of the Month. Swena works around the clock to ensure her students have access to the resources they need to excel, fostering an environment where learning goes far beyond the textbook. Through HOSA, PCHS students gain access to transformative opportunities, including professional internships, the chance to further their specialized medical knowledge, and the ability to network with thousands of peers and industry experts. By blending rigorous academic preparation with real-world application, the Paulding County HOSA chapter is not just educating student, it is actively shaping the future of global healthcare.
