Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge recently presented the GreyStone Power Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors with a plaque to thank them for supporting the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Cops for Kids Christmas shopping program. GreyStone members who choose to round up their electric bills to the next dollar each month fund the Foundation through a program called Operation Round Up. DallasNewEra Gulledge Foundation Boardx800Since 2000, more than $1.9 million has been raised by GreyStone members, providing severely needed funds to nonprofit organizations throughout GreyStone’s service area. Members who participated in Operation Round Up last year supported more than 40 nonprofit organizations. For years, part of these funds have gone to help the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Cops for Kids program, which pairs police officers with underprivileged children and allows them to “shop” for clothes and Christmas presents. Gulledge says participating in the Cops for Kids program brings him “satisfaction and happiness” each year. His family, including his wife and daughter, also take part. “It’s not Christmas until we do this,” he says.  Gulledge is grateful for the financial help that Operation Round Up gives the Cops for Kids program each year. “A lot of the money comes back to Paulding. It’s fantastic. We couldn’t do what we’re doing without it,” he says. The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Cops for Kids program began in 1998 with about 20 children served, and in recent years has served about 200 children a year. GreyStone Power serves more than 108,000 members in portions of eight counties, including Paulding, Douglas, Fulton, Cobb, Carroll, Bartow, Fayette and Coweta counties.
