Melodie Smith of CASA of Paulding County Elected to Georgia CASA Board of Directors
Melodie Smith, executive director of CASA of Paulding County, was recently elected to a three-year term on the Georgia CASA Board of Directors. She was chosen by her peers – other affiliate CASA program directors throughout the state – to serve as one of four affiliate CASA program representatives.
“We are so proud of Melodie for being selected for this position of trust by her fellow CASA directors. We know she will be a valuable member of the Georgia CASA Board,” said Cindy Hardison, Chairman of the CASA Paulding Board. Duaine Hathaway, executive director of Georgia CASA, stated that, “As one of the affiliate program representatives on the Georgia CASA Board of Directors, I’m sure that Melodie will not only bring the perspective of an executive director of a suburban nonprofit organization, but also be able to share the successes and challenges of all CASA affiliate programs. We look forward to Melodie’s involvement on the Board.”
Melodie has served as executive director of CASA of Paulding County for three years. Under her leadership, the 2015 CASA program has provided 56 CASA volunteer advocates for 275 foster children.
CASA of Paulding County is an affiliate of Georgia CASA, a nonprofit organization with 47 community-based affiliate programs. The CASA program is central to fulfilling society’s most fundamental obligation by making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect a child’s right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect and to learn and grow in the safe embrace of a loving family.
Last year, over 2,100 CASA volunteers in Georgia served over 9,700 abused and neglected children.
