GHC was approved for funding for new construction under the fiscal year 2017 state budget approved by the Legislature. Governor Deal recently signed the budget. According to the University System of Georgia’s “Fall 2015 Semester Enrollment Report,” Georgia Highlands College had the third highest enrollment increase in the state.

Daughters of the American Revolution honors Vietnam War Veterans at the Cartersville Veterans Service Center. On March 24, 2016, the Captain Edward Hagin Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution honored approximately 125 Vietnam War Veterans.
The Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) program is a scholarship program offered to international students between the ages of 18 and 25. The goal of the program is to promote peace through education. Students are invited to study here in the state of Georgia for one academic year.

On April 22, 2016 Olivia Shead, of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, was recognized at a retirement ceremony which was held in her honor at the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Training Center. On hand to recognize her for her service was Sheriff Gary Gulledge.
