New Life Baptist Church on Bobo Road in Dallas celebrated 29 years this September. Over those 29 years there have been many outreaches and many lives touched. But this year, 2016, the Ladies Sunday School Class began a new journey. One of the lady's, Ms. Jean Cone, was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2015. She went thru surgery and then chemo at Welistar Paulding. In sharing her journey with the Ladies Class, she mentioned how scared she was when she started chemo and how cold she got while taking her treatment This planted a seed in the heart of these ladies that soon began to grow and has bloomed into a project that has already touched so many. Blankets of Hope was born.
The Ladies Class began making fleece blankets for the chemo patients at Welistar Paulding. As of this date, this small congregation with a big heart has already distributed well over 75 blankets! The High School class in their VBS even joined in and made blankets as their craft project in June.
This September the Lord impressed upon the Ladies Class to step out on faith to give Children's Healthcare of Atlanta 100 fleece blankets for Christmas!!! While our families will be sitting at the table for dinner or gathered around a Christmas tree opening presents, there will be countless numbers of families sitting in a hospital room with a sick child hooked up to IV's and monitors. One lady's journey through pain, fear and ultimate victory, has grown into a church wide mission for others! Every family is now involved in making these blankets with the hope that 1ives will be touched and hearts warmed as they wrap their loved ones in these "Blankets of Hope".blankets800
