The Paulding Retired Educators met on November 1 at the First Baptist Church in Dallas. Members and guests enjoyed a covered dish luncheon. Representatives of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators or PAGE, Margaret Ciccarelli and Josh Stephen, presented an overview of Amendment 1 and how it would affect education in Georgia. Members were encouraged to vote no on this amendment because if would cause the takeover of failing schools by for profit charter schools. Sean DeVetter, staff attorney for PAGE, spoke about issues that could affect the Georgia Teacher Retirement System.
Members made donations to Helping Hands of Paulding and the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy which provides books to low income children
