Joe M. Turner, a professional magician, based in Paulding County, will join the Magicians on Mission: Magic and Comedy Tour to multiple military bases in the Southwest Asia region in August and September 2022. The tour departs on August 24 and concludes on September 4, during which time they will entertain thousands of US troops in various locations in Southwest Asia.
Two Paulding County Deputies were awarded the second highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Deputy. Corporal Jamie Winkles and Deputy Joshua Bishop were presented with the Medal of Merit by Sheriff Gary Gulledge at the beginning of the meeting for the heroic acts they performed during a call on June 24, 2022.
This year, the Paulding County Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Scholarship reached its 13th year and was awarded to, two very worthy, recent high school graduates, from Paulding County. This scholarship expansion was thanks in part to generous community donations, and to funds generated from the Annual Paulding Master Gardener Plant Sale.

Local Realty, a Marietta-based real estate company featuring expertise in the local real estate market, today announced that Paulding County’s Deputy Director, Christina Kelly, and Leighton Graham have been named the company’s Hero of the Month for June and July, respectively.
Paulding County High School student, Marilyne Makendi, was selected as one of five Bank of America Student Leaders for 2022. This prestigious program is designed to provide opportunities to develop and apply leadership tools and skills through hands-on community work and leadership experiences while raising students’ awareness of community issues and challenges.
The Energy Matters Awards were created in 2021 to recognize environmental excellence from individuals, businesses, and communities throughout the state of Georgia. This year, 15 sustainability and technology projects were recognized, and Carroll EMC was given the Best Electric Vehicle Implementation by a Large Company award.
With the medical field’s soaring demand for phlebotomists, Chattahoochee Tech is launching a Phlebotomy Technician Certificate training program to prepare students for this profession. “Phlebotomy is vital in health care,” said Chattahoochee Tech instructor Jennifer Chin. “You are responsible for collecting the blood specimens that a medical laboratory technologist will use to run tests and give results to a doctor to diagnose and treat patients.
Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) secured a search warrant for the home. Detectives and Agents then searched the home and spoke with Mykytyn about the incident. As a result of their investigation, Detectives and Agents were able to preliminarily determine that Entrekin died as a result of a gunshot wound and that the manner of death appears to be consistent with that of a homicide.

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, and the Haralson-Paulding Drug Task Force (HPDTF) executed a search warrant at 89 Paces Lakes Point Dallas, GA 30157. This search warrant was executed following a brief investigation that led Agents to believe this location was being utilized for the purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine. Agents with the DEA made contact with Wilber Leonel Romero-Zelaya at the residence and Agents with the Haralson-Paulding Drug Task Force were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
Car Crash Leads to Suicide Attempt in Western Paulding County. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the motor vehicle accident portion of this incident and the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suicide portion of this incident.
Sergeant Rodney Mitchell, who is a supervisor in the Juvenile Division at the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, was awarded the Paulding County Board of Commissioner’s Public Safety Award for his exemplary service to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.
