Dallas library 300x175The Dallas Library is happy to introduce a new series of informative and educational computer classes. Starting in January, Dallas library staff and volunteers will be holding classes and workshops that focus on furthering your knowledge and education. Our classes are free and are taught by our staff and volunteers. We are very lucky to have two experienced and certified teachers at our library so that we can provide classes such as Microsoft Office and Intro to PC’s. Douglas Keen will be teaching two Microsoft Office classes on Thursdays from 11-1pm and 4pm-6pm. Doug started in the computer field in the mid 1960’s. He started as a programmer with SCM Corporation and later worked for Control Data Corporation where he developed his skills on IBM equipment. Mr. Keen later became the Manager of Information Systems for ABC-TV affiliate in Tampa, FL. He holds certificates from CDC, IBM, Cisco, Hewlett Packard, and Microsoft. He is a Certified Microsoft Trainer. We are so lucky to have him join our team. James Pritchett is a longtime friend of the Dallas Library and will be teaching Intro to PC classes on Fridays from 10am – 11:30am and 12pm – 1:30pm. James has 42 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He was a BellSouth employee for 31 years. computer classAfter retiring in 1996, he worked as a consultant to BellSouth and AT&T. Mr. Pritchett’s consulting jobs included large database design, implementation, and application support. James has been a member of Atlanta PC User Group since 2003 and served on their Board of Directors in 2005. Sarah Aseta is the new Reference Specialist at the Dallas Library and will be presenting classes and workshops that have been requested by our patrons. These will include Resume Writing, Budgeting 101, Job Search Engines, and ACT/SAT prep courses.
