DallasNewEra Afterwardsx800Friends of Civil War Paulding met at the Morris Cemetery on Academy Drive on Saturday, January 17, to clean the small cemetery, site of Paulding’s Unknown Confederate Soldier. In 1864, the wounded soldier was taken to a home near this spot but died before giving his name. Another unknown story is that of the husband and wife buried with this soldier, William and Rachel Morris, who died on the same day in November 1863.DallasNewEra Workersx800 Members raked pine straw, trimmed shrubbery, and cleaned the markers with safe, acceptable cleaning solutions. Those working were Hugh Walters, Bill Allen, Ray & Maggie Karner, Eddie Casey, Wayne Willingham, Connie Tibbitts, and Gordon Allard. The next work project is February 21 in New Hope, where we will adjust the location of the Brown’s Mill historic marker.
