This past Friday night the South Paulding Spartans traveled across town to take on the East Paulding Raiders, in a game that would become a battle of the defenses. With a lite rain coming down neither offense could get a lot going. The raiders struck first with a TD mid way through the first quarter. With rain still coming down through the rest of the first half neither offense could get a good run or a pass off to do any good. The defense for both sides were very strong and held the score close to end the half with the Raiders ahead 7-0. With the rain gone to start the second half the Spartan offense started airing the ball out and was able to take control of the 3rd quarter with a long bomb from #10 Jake Oglesby to #9 LJ Pope for a Spartan touchdown to tie the game up after a extra point completion from #93 Brittany Havenner. Late in the 3rd quarter the Raider offense drove the ball down field to take the lead again 14-7 that ended the 3rd quarter. The Spartan offense came out on the field with a few tricks up their sleeve when out of no where #18 James Story bolted down field uncovered by the Raider defense with a long bomb from #10 Jake Oglesby to connect for another Spartan touch down. The score now tied at 14-14 the Spartan defense took control of the game and stopped the Raiders on every attempt. With outstanding plays from #3 Zakihah Lee, #30 Dawson Mitchell, and #2 Taquan Evans the Raider offense was out manned. The Spartan offense took control of the ball and drove the ball down field with another pass completion from #10 Jake Oglesby to #12 Chase Wilkerson to get the Spartans down to the 5 yard line where the Raider offense held the Spartans to a field goal kicked by #93 Britanny Havenner to take the lead for the first time in the game 17-14. The Spartan defense once again shut down the Raider offense and the ball was turned over to the Spartans. The Spartan offense came together and drove the ball right back down the field for another Spartan touch down to end the game with a Spartan win 24-14 over the Raiders.
