Friday night was started by Mother Nature with a brief but fairly strong rain shower. Gratefully with our new turf field there was no cause for alarm. According to the group that installed the field it will drain 4 inches of rain per hour. We were nowhere near that rate of rainfall but like the man said we were dry as a bone. I’ve got no stats on the game; I think someone forgot about me this week. My observations are based on feel rather than printed fact. I can tell you that #7 Kyle Banks worked hard to get his team from one end of the field to the other but he was stymied by a very good Cartersville defense and an offense that looked a little out of sync. The defense played a much better game tonight. They held the Cartersville team scoreless through the 1st quarter and played a well-executed game plan through the rest of the night. My favorite play of the game was #35 Blake Phillips taking out #16 the quarterback for Cartersville. #8 A. J. Scott, #11 Dale Craig, and #24 Colin Davies also contributed to holding the other guys to 26 points. The final score of 26 – 7 was not a win for the Wolfpack but it was another step in the evolution of what can and will be a great team. Coach Jones has two weeks to get ready for the home game against Kennesaw Mtn. on the 26th.
