"BURN THE BOATS" According to Van Spence, Paulding County High School's Head Coach

​"Burn The Boats" is the motto for the upcoming season. The words of Cortez are being echoed by 2nd year head coach Van Spence as he prepares the team for the upcoming season. Spence is optimistic about the prospects of the Patriots. The Partiots have 16 returning seniors and 19 total ready to lead the charge. It will be a tough task in the toughest region of the state with 3 of the 4 playoff teams reaching the quarterfinals of the state playoffs last year. Rome is the defending state champion and have reloaded for this year, Carrollton and Kell are also in the mix as strong contenders. The Patriots start their season August 18th at home against North Paulding.​

Senior QB Brantley Mauldin hopes to close out his career by guiding the Patriots to the playoffs. Mauldin will be a 4 year starter and has been an inspiration and a strong example of character for the Patriots.​The key to this years team may be the defense and if they are able to get off the field and let the offense control the ball.
