Hiram Grapplers Break New Ground

The Hiram Hornet wrestling program hosted the Cass Colonels and also the Alexander Cougars for a meet Thursday at Hiram High School. Nothing new there, but this time the Alexander GIRLS would be facing Hirams girls in the first-ever dual meet in the state of Georgia between female squads.
The evening was very exciting as the boys triumphed over the Cass squad and the girls fought hard but came up short against a tough Alexander crew. It was a very exciting and lively atmosphere and the matches went quickly for the most part. Only a few matches went the distance as most were won by a pinfall. It was my first occasion to cover girls wrestling and I am a fan, this will soon become a sport that GSHA will have to recognize and hold a championship for.
Congratulations Hiram High for thinking forward and embracing the opportunity to be a forerunner. All proceeds from the event went to Shriner's Hospitals.
