East Paulding Raiders Beat Kell Longhorns

East Paulding Raiders beat AJC ranked #7 Kell Longhorns last Friday in a narrow victory. Kell’s short 3 points field goal lead was eclipsed by East TD on their 1st possession and held a lead until the 4th quarter by as much as 13 points.
Both teams made errors, but the Longhorn errors cost them the game. In the 1st quarter was one of three errors. A bad snap on a Kell’s punt went out of the back side of the end zone for a safety for the Raiders.
Kell briefly redeems their error when the Longhorns returned a 99-yard kick off for a TD. East Paulding later fumbled the kick off returned and was recovered by Kell. Moving into field goal range, the 2nd error costing Kell the game was another bad snap allowing the Raiders defense to stop Kell from scoring.
A fumble on East in the bottom of the 3rd Quarter recovered by Kell gave them a TD and two-point lead 2 mins in the 4thquarter. Kell’s final error came on a bad punt giving the ball to the Raiders with 19 yards to go. Kell’s defense could not stop the Raiders Delvin Dolph’s Field Goal giving them a 2 point lead with 2 mins left. Then Chance Foster interception sealed the Raiders victory with a minute left in play.
Tyrell Robinson made TD with the longest rush being 60 yards. Cole Brown made a 34 yard receiving TD in the 3rd quarter.
Coach Shackelford credits this win to two things. “We had a good week of practice and we played through all 4 quarters.”
The Raiders will travel to play #4 ranked Carrollton next week. A win over Carrollton would send a message to the Region, the Raiders are back.
